LowRider, this is a good photograph, in my view. The subjects are adorable and the composition of the image is great. You did very well to capture this enjoyable moment. It is unfortunate, however, that the image is not sharper and that the background is not more appealing.

I use a rating system to evaluate all photos. I tend to be a bit tough, but I do this in hopes it will help other fellow photographers in taking great pictures. I am no expert either, this is just my opinion. But I hope it helps you.

Focus/Sharpness: 8+ Focus clear, but not perfect.
White Balance/Lighting: 9 Good lighting, some shaded small areas but good.
Depth of Field/Backgrounds: 10 I like how you used a shallow DOF, great work.
Frame/Cropping: 10 Can't beat this, a nice capture.
Overall Photo: 9 This is a cool photo, looks like they are having a staredown contest. :-)

What a cute pair. I think the back ground actually takes away from this, near Willow, there's something white behind him and it distorts from his clarity.

Great composition and a moment in time stopped and captured. The DOF is good. The focus and exposure could be a little better, but other than that it is a great shot.
