I think you are being a little hard on yourself as the artwork has turned out rather well showing the cascading water nicely with the viewer able to see the shadows of the rocks and vegetation behind the flow of water.

Great drawing of the waterfall, the water and shading make it very impressive. I also like the background and the use of media to create mist off the rocks in the water.

The cascading falls are just beautiful , it's fun to imagine standing there and listening to the sounds of the rushing water.
Very well created with good attention to the details I like the way you show the mist rising as the water reaches the pool.
Well arranged and presented!
Best wishes to you in this contest!

This is incredible! I love how you were able to portray the running water and show it running so beautifully. I love the darker hues behind it and how they make your waterfall pop.

Thank you for stopping by and reviewing this work. I really appreciate your encouraging input as I had to use a different medium than what I started out with. Hope you will stop by again. Glena

Well Glene not your best but 5 stars for effort and experimentation but mostly for your scene construction. The effect is luminous and surreal with a touch of abstractism. Not unattractive at alk. I loved reading your notes. Your creative use of materials and persistence to get the result you wanted are very much admired by me. This is what artists do.. continually experiment and learn.

Thank you so much, my artist friend. I will have to use more favorable or more used mediums for contests. I had to use something else anyway. You are so kind and encouraging.

Regardless of what YOU may think of this, I think it turned out great. We always tend to be our own worst critics. Remember! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I would only change one thing on this, where you've added the green hues, to try and blend them a bit more so that don't appear like scribbles. You can use a fine xacto blade on the colored pencil to gently scrape the edges and blend the color or even remove it, if you wish. Other than that, your composition and colors are lovely. I love the bottom of the waterfall where it's misty and turbulent. Water is tough to create. It looks easy but it's not. I'm working on a piece that I've changed a dozen times, trying to get the right effect. Someday I'll post it, when I'm happy with it. As for you, I applaud this effort, it is not a fail, just a work in progress. Keep at it...

Thank you so much for your insight and appreciated suggestions. I'll use this medium on more of a drawing type painting. Or I could have just used soft charcoals without the colored ones. Thanks again. So helpful.

Thank you, my artist friend. It may take a while to learn the colored charcoals or use more in portraits. Your input always means so much.

I like your spirit. Art is very demanding, and when you keep trying, it listens to you. What is missing in this painting, as I see it, is the foam effect and the gentle water splashes.. You can still do it using soft white pastels and repost the improved version. Overall, this has come out well. Good luck!

Thank you, my artist friend. I always value your input. I probably should have used only black charcoal instead of the colored ones. Either way you have a way of encouraging and continuing to work with a new medium.
