First of all, Congratulations Soulfeeder. It is not difficult at all to understand why you won with this smashing photo of an Anhinga. I especially like the dark background, and also how lovely the light is falling on the bird.

The Anhinga is standing out sharp and well defined from the background, and it is clear details to be seen in every part of the bird. The exposure is spot on.

I also like the way you have cropped the photo and the placement of the bird off to the left. Indeed a lovely and well taken photo and with an excellent DOF.

A beautiful picture of this Anhinga portrait the light sparkling in it's eye & glows through it's yellow beak as it stands out from the dark background. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

A very good profile of this waterbird. We have several in our lakes in the community I live in. This is a great profile photograph with the black background that shows him off well. Good luck in the contest.

What an interesting bird! I've never heard of one before - so I looked it up, and apparently is related to cormorants and pelicans! Huh I do like learning new things! :)
Great shot, beautifully focused and positioned in the frame.
I don't know what the background was like before (possibly distracting?), but I do feel with it now all black it gives no idea to its environment - which I presume would be water.
That's my only nit pick, and a very minor one at that - it's a great shot!
Good luck in the contest.

Thanks, Charlotte. I changed the grayish ocean background because I photoshoot this during an early morn with gray clouds. You are right, I let go of the scene of its habitat, to make her stands out in the frame.

You're welcome. Yeah sometimes needs must, grey skies are definitely not the prettiest! :)

Hi Nieves, Beautiful shot of this Anhinga! Love both the focus and the lighting! You really show off the detail of the feathers. Though I've never seen an Anhinga I have seen Cormorants.
Very nice shot for the letter A contest! Good Luck! :o) Nancy

Hi, Nance. Thanks for this pleasant review. Cormorants and Anhinga looks the same, but they are different. Anhinga's neck is slender.

Very nice capture of the Anhinga .
Well placed within the frame off on the left with plenty of room to look or move in to.
Well focused, this image is sharp and clear, exposure is correct, colors and tones appear natural.
Well defined detail in feathers, face and bill.
I appreciate the clear eye.
The birds is standing out from the neutral background .
Well composed and presented!
