cool. the backdrop is good. 'cep' for the sky. crop that out and bump up the levels a little... or go back and retake. it's a little under exposed, but I think you can bring the levels up enough with photoshop without making the blacks look gray.

You are showing a very good eye for subjects. This has some great aspects. I think what would make this framing great, would be to center the point of the barn. Right now it is just off center, and it isn't off center enough to be on a third, so it just feels off center. Also, if the point on the barn were centered, it would bring the silo to a third, and then everything would be sitting on a good line. Be careful with the fences in the front of the picture. You don't get enough of them to bring them into the subject, so they just become a distraction. I like the barn in the shade, it really doesn't detract from the picture, in fact, it gives it a little different feel, and actually draws your attention to it. Was this shot with the sun pretty high? The background is very flat, which can be caused by a high sun. With the foreground in the shade, it would really help to have good depth in the background. In photoshop, try adjusting the levels. If you move the middle (gray) slider to the right a little, and then move the right (white) slider to the left a little, this acts like a polarizer, and helps the clouds get a pop. Be careful not to go too far with it though, since the foreground is in the shade, you don't want to get it too dark.

First, thank you for all this time in guiding me! Yes, 12:00 PM, close-- my time is limited--would love to experiment with different times, since that is not an option at this time--I so appreciate your advise. I just got photoshop, have not spent enough time on figuring it all out. But to be very honest, I want to get it right without tech help. I do use photoshop for light and focus, that is it, and do that because scanner does no justice to what it scanned. Lookin' for a photo scanner, gotta a clue? My camera is Canon Rebel G--I use a haze filter in front of a polarized filter. Don't want to go digital, love the film, just not the developement!!! Thank you again shiver!!

Cool photo! Great barn and the view really adds to the impression given by the barn, even though there isn't anything stunning in the scenery, relatively speaking. The one thing I might suggest trying, is cropping a bit off the left side, because that dark bush at the bottom seems really distracting to me, for some reason it is overpowering, and you could crop an inch off the side without loosing anything in the photo, while reducing the negative void that the bush creates. But definitely leave the part where the fence enters it! That is pretty cool :-)

LowRider, this is certainly an appealing landscape you've captured. The composition is very impressive and the depth is amazing. It is unfortunate that the magnificent old barn is so very dark. There is also a strange line running down the left of the photograph. Wonder what caused that. In any event this is a good effort.
Peace, papa

I was really drawn to this one. I am facinated with old structures and this one is a beauty. I like the perspective on this and the way you included the setting behind the barn. Peg

Terrific story telling landscape. There is a lot of depth to this photo. The aging of the barn is a good contrast against the colorful live landscape surrounding it. A really nice shot.
