This is a perfect example of what you can do on a slightly overcast day! I love the composition of this, and the lighting. This would have been an interesting canidate for a sepia filter also!

I really love all of the almost pastel colors in this. It looks like it could almost be a painting in a way. Lovely composition.

Alright, we can move on to the next lesson! You framed this extremely well. The have a nice line of third, and the road comes into frame on the right on a third. The "old crap" is sitting on the lower line, between the center line and the right line. This has very nice balance. The detail is good, there is enough foreground to give some weight, and the clouds add nice detail to the top. The next thing we are going to work on is exposure. One thing I have noticed on your shots, they tend to be a little over exposed. This could be because you are letting the camera choose the exposure. One thing you can do is bracket, take a shot 1/2 to 1 stop above and below the exposure the camera chooses. I have noticed that my 10D tends to over expose a little. I am almost to the point where I am going to set the camera to under expose 1/2 stop from what it wants to do. Another thing that would have really brought out the detail of the clouds, would have been a polarizer. But, anyway, this is a wonderful shot.

Wow! I am finally getting somewhere! You are just a great person to learn from not only because of your great knowledge, but mostly your patience when it comes to me--yes, exposure has been a problem for me. I am hoping my new scanner and monitor that I am getting for Christmas will help me see my mistakes better. When I scan with old scanner, the pics come up on my screen looking faded, I then try to correct what I see on the screen to look like my original pic in Photoshop by brightening--may be adding to my exposure problems. I am glad you are back reviewing! Thank you shiv!!!

Beautiful shot. I just love that old rusty farm equipment & all the nice rural tones in this picture. Was this shot taken during the middle of the day? Perhaps it would look even better when the light is different, say late evening. I think the colurs would be a bit richer then & the sky more defined. Just a thought.

I really like this one the old nostalgic feeling. Rusty colours contrasting with the grass and clouds makes a nice centre weighted view Great job!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice shot Low! The shots you've put up today are among your best ones. I think that no matter how nice a landscape is, you still have to include something to give it interest beyond just saying, look at this nice landscape. You've pulled it off almost perfectly with this shot of the old carriage. I say almost only because I think it is a bit overexposed. You could try shutting down the aperture a bit, and if you're close enough to the object use a fill flash so you don't lose too much shadow detail (or otherwise you can use a reflecting screen). Nice shot though!

Thank you rga!!! My time is limited when I shoot so I need to be more selective, I believe, what I shoot during that time limit. I appreciate you and your time reviewing and greatly your advice!

aint sure what i am supposed to be looking at the old relic in the field or the landscape, you cant really have it both ways, i would have tried getting quite close to said relic and focused on the landscape and maybe had part of relic blurred, or the opposite way around

I like the look of the old stuff, and the mountain in the background is the perfect backup to anything you photograph. The lack of color, or shade here disappoints me- I think a polarizer, or filter would turn this into an awesome photo. orion008.

So true it is not crap but it is old. I have learned a lot on FAR in past short week. The more I learn the more difficult the reviews get. The sky is to bright to notice much in the background. The focal point in the old farm equipment is perfectly positioned. Must have been moved recently or I am not familiar with how grass grows out west. Maybe strange but I almost visualize this as a gorgeous water color.
