LOL!!! Yard ornament? hahahahahaha!!!

I don't see it as something to be used as a yard ornament either but, like you, I do find it intriguing.

27 cents a gallon, huh? Those were the days! :)

Great shot!

27 cents per gallon! I'm going to that pump! Nice job. I like the composition very much. The color of the rust blends gread with the grass making it look like it belongs there. Great lighting.

Hey, i love old gas pumps...i have no idea why but i just love them. I think they remind me of Lego Bricks (or known as Legos is USA.) because when i was very little i had a Formula 1 Lego set with a Shell station...and it was so awesome...so old gas pumps are cool with me. (FYI a gas pump in the uk is commonly know as a 'fart')...anyway, back to the photograph...i love the way it is old and rusting but it is surrounded by grass...like it has never moved but the world has continued to grow without it...Awesome photo...

I do like the way you set the image off center and allowed the shadow to be part of the composition. Interesting bit of culture presented as art in the owner's yard, but as a photo alone, this doesn't hold my interest.

This photograph makes one yearn for the good ol' days. You know when you and all your friends "pitched in a buck" for gas so you could spend all of Friday night cruisin' the back roads and having a good time. (That wasn't just us was it?). I like how you offset the pump to the left in this shot and the bright light cheers it up well.

Perhaps you should have got the whole yard with this one. This one's composition is somewhat lacking. Too much empty space and the subject just can't quite pull it off alone.

Thank you Lisa!!! Whole yard was broken down rusted cars-------didn't figure that would add much to the pic!

I love the simplicity of the image and the way you captured it makes it a very strong photo. The lighting and the sharpness are great. Lovely shot! I don't think we will ever see those prices again :)

OMG - 27 cents pg was when I was sixteen. Have been fascinated with old gas pumps since growing up on a law school campus in Macon, GA (maybe THATs my problem) and used to see a lot of these in various parts of GA when I first did outside insurance inspections. Do you do Dark Shadows on purpose? Also, is it not centered for "artistic" reasons? Good one. Jeff

Thank you so much Jeff!! Not don't shadow on purpose most of the time, shootin' at high noon does that. Yep, not centered because of this subject I would find pretty boring, therefore, off set.
