I really enjoy this image! It has an "wow" effect for initial presentation and the effect of the fog is outstanding. Great story telling and gives a fresh look on a well used scene. The colors are beautiful as well.

Carol, this one was posted almost 2 years ago...I was surprised to see a review on it. The oldies don't earn much for reviewing. LOL!! Thanks for the pleasant surprise. I went through a phase of painting several scenes of the fishing villages. They are certainly challenging. Thanks again, Russ

Gmon, thanks for the excellent review. I find that digital painting is where my passion lives. It allows me to achieve the level of realism that had always eluded me with traditional painting. It is a tedious process when using Photoshop but the long hours are rewarded by nice reviews from my peers. Thanks again, Russ www.pixelartisan.com

Good Evening Russ,

Your Artistic Credentials are worthy of an All Time Best Logo.

Despite the Milky Fog elements of this image, there are crisp cameo focal points, icluding the Fisherman in the boat and silhouetted figure at the window.

Anyone wanting a definition on patience, should take a leaf out of your book!

Superb.

Regards,

Dave

Dave, this one has been off the page for nearly a year. Your review has to be a labor of appreciation because I know you did not earn many member dollars or points for it. That is why this review is most precious...it is from the heart. Thanks for making an 'ol timer feel like a young buck...if only for a short while. LOL!! My art does require patience. When painting, I have plenty of that. Living day-to-day...not so much. LOL Thanks my friend, Russ

Outstanding piece of work! I love your style and technique... Looks so real. It reminds me of my style in a way...almost like a photo. I draw but this one caught my eye.
Soft and gentle...makes it like you can feel the chill...
Nice job!

4 Luv, another excellent review...this is a great way to start my week. I did most of my talking in the reply to the other review that you did for me...I will let that be the primary reply. LOL!! Thanks again, Russ

This is amazing! The reflection is real enough to dive into. The fog affect is great to contrast the building against. The detailing is magnificant right down to the person in the window!

Corrina, thanks again....I just sent a reply on ShorelineBliss. I have three paintings showing the fishing community. I have a deep passion for realism, lots of detailing. It looks like you are jumping right in and getting started. I will have to check out your portfolio. Russ

No sixes left. Boohoo!

I'm going to bed to sulk now, because not in a million years, could I do something like this.

I'm so in awe of your talent. I've just come across this image and it's totally beautiful. I know you don't need another review, but I just had to tell you anyway.

Fabulous.

LLew, Don't sulk...you COULD do this IF you really wanted to. Your portfolio tells me that you could!! Your works are excellent, very creative, interesting themes and expressive style. The "Ladies of the Night" and "It's Broken" are both beautiful. You have the talent and the technical skills...go for it!! I appreciate your acceptance of my art. I see the world as it is. I cannot do works like yours...you see outside the window, I stay within the boundary of the walls. Everyone must work within their passions, mine is realism. I will return in the AM to review the Ladies...a fascinating work of art. Take care, Russ

You have accomplished a beautiful picture with all the hard work that you put into. I like the softening affect in the background and all the little details that you have given it. Beautiful work.

Penny, thanks for your review. I certainly appreciate your thoughtful words. My works are very tedious and require endless hours of detailing. It is not uncommon for me to revisit a "finished" work and add more details. I guess my paintings are never truly done. Thanks again. Russ

reply by PennyE on 17-Apr-2008
I know that feeling. I don't think mine are every really finished either. Like you I may go back to it several times to add something. But your work is great.

Eibhlin, thanks so much for the wonderful review. I enjoy painting realism...but it is sometimes much too tedious. :-) I se that you are from Ireland and a new member. This site is a great experience but it requires a lot of time. Welcome to FAR. I looked through your portfolio and saw some excellent images. I am a professional photographer and find your images to be filled with emotion. You have the vision to capture the human side of life. Thanks again, Russ

Oh wow. I had to read your message a few times and then read it out loud to my husband so am really touched by your words. I am still only a learner but I love this hobby and I hope to get better.

Maybe someday I could become a professional photographer. Maybe.

wow, that sounds like a lot of work! But your result is good--and does not look like digital art to me, which, to me, is a good thing. I like the touch of the person in the window. Someone who just has to wait until this fisherman makes it back safely? Someone who wishes they were on the boat, too?

Ceil, sorry it took so long to reply, I posted two in a row, became inundated with reviews, over 160 replies. I truly appreciate your compliments. I work very diligently to create the realism, some people wonder what the purpose of that is....my answer: because I can, it is my passion. I love doing the tiniest details and enjoy how people react to my art. Thanks again, Russ
