Picnic By The Sea

A promising day on the shores of Maine.

This scene is reminiscent of so many places I have been. Seems like every council in Australia bought a similar picnic set! - lol. Anyway, shall I guess Port Macquarie, and be wrong, or will you tell me? Best wishes.

How tranquil. :) I can almost see this framed and mounted in a hallway. Just the right amount of shading beyond the sun's reach under a contrasting canopy of solitude to reflect on that vast waters that lie beyond. I like the varying change up of blue tones as the eye moves from water to sky. The little bit of green on the bottom is a nice balance and border for the rest of the piece. Bravo!

There are elements here, in this piece, that are both fantastic and horrific. The tree's presence overshadows your subject creating a sillouette. The sea, in this version, is pixelated and difficult to discern from the sky. My gut tells me that this picture was taken too far away from the picnic table and at the wrong time of day. If the water was facing east, you should have been there at sunrise. If it was facing west, you should have been there at sunset. That would have created drama and reduced your chances of having an all pervasive shadow.

I think there are two things wrong with this picture. First, there is no light on the table and there is no sitting there. It just seems a bit depressing. ~Jaimee~

I wouldn't call this a promising day, rather a serene day.
The light blue of the sky and the slightly darker shade of blue of the sea is very pleasing to the eye.
The pink streaks in between the blues is beautiful.
The low hanging tree, almost shaded and the peeping greens is exotic.
The shadows on the grass and the single bench is very inviting.
It is the very picture of soothing calm but it somehow fails to touch the heart.
I wish you had cut off some of the sky and given us some more of the grass.
Some more green would have made your photo even more attractive.
Good!

This is a nice picture, but would look nicer with more sunlight on the center subject. I do really like how you framed the top with the boughs of the tree.
It looks like its quite foggy out there in the water. Looks refreshing too.
