The focus is excellent, all the little details and textures are perfectly caught. The subtle light works very nicely. I like the missing petals, everything in nature is not perfect and this is a nice representation.

It is not often a flower could emit dignity, however you have achieved it.. Perfect colors and focus plus slight underexposure makes this shot remarkable.

Nice to see you haven't lost your shutter finger somewhere :) Nice shot. I like the less than perfoect (one look at my stuff will tell you that I shot it as it is, warts and all - and get abused on a routine basis for it - LOL. Very good techs across the board. Not sure how the waxy sheen got on there foroma tired flower - suspect there's a flash involed which accounts for the black background as well. I've had it suggested to me that the black background is to stark and that it robs the colors - had it suggested that I use a dark complementary color. I think it's good advice, I just haven't listened to it much. I offer it to you as a suggestion (not a criticsm). It would involve leaving the realm of the traditionalost (horrors) but it might be worth the journey. THis is a classic case of how to make a shoot out of nothing much at all.

What a beautiful flower! It's the imperfections that make it stand out. I love the colors and the sharpness of the petals against the dark background, too. Seems a tad under-exposed to me, but not enough to distract from the beauty of the image as a whole. Great job!

This is a really nice shot. Focus is good across the entire image and that works well for you. I just wish there was a little more background. Yes, there is a hint of a stem under the flower, but not enough to keep the image from looking like it is floating in space.

This is a beautiful flower! The colors and the imperfect petals are beautiful thats what makes this picture so great! The DOF is a little off but it was not enough for me to lower my rating, because the picture is perfect just like it is. Thanks for shaing

I would not go along with the less than perfect idea, as with the flower I am sure God meant us to have an occasional ageing imperfection and anyone who can produce a picture like this one certainly has plenty going for them.
It is a lovely picture the black background gives the flower a wonderful full color and your focus and clarity are really great.
