ABSTRACT: B'more Alley Night
by pzoette
Not sure I'd label this abstract, you can kind of see what it is. Kind of - and that's what makes it interesting, what makes you look closer and involves you. The best images are those that are completed by the eye of the viewer and for me this is such an image. Nicely dark and mysterious. On the down side not sure if that bright flash of light doesn't distract the eye from the mystery - something needs to go there just wondering if it isn't too bright though. Either way very nice image

I would agree that it isn't abstract but I did this on advice of people who have been on this site...because I received very strange reviews re: my other posts. I think this is more 'expressionistic'.
Now to the important part: I toyed with that flash of light...larger smaller, different shape, different color...
What do you think (and I'm simply asking for an opinion) if I overlay it with one of the other colors? One of the lightly used one and just make it a little less distinct. When it was smaller it looked accidental...not a bad thing, but not what I intended.
There actually was something in the back there and no one will ever guess unless I post a close up. That's why I kept working on this one.
But thank you for reviewing this as it is. I appreciate it.

I think that if you overlay it with one of the colours already in the picture you will dilute it and it will lose its impact. How about a complimentry colour ? My first choice would be yellow to preserve the feeling of a light, second choice for me might be red which would be more abstract perhaps. Overlay it or blend it and it might work. Hard to visualise though ...

Oh, I think I like the red idea. I had tried a yellowish tinge and it looked like tobacco. But red wouldn't be expected as long as it was still luminous. THANK YOU THANK YOU! Unfortunately I cannot post it again, but I can tell you how it comes out, or give you a link if you want to see it. I'll even give you credit for the idea! THANKS

Hell yeah, course I want the credit :-) Glad it worked out, apparently Turner did the same thing on one of his paintings - damn maybe you'll have to give him the credit :-(
