Serenity at the Abbey
by yourbren
So pastoral, peaceful and lovely- one can well imagine a functioning Abbey having been here. It has a very spiritual feel. I love the composition of this shot with the giant dark tree trunk overgrown with vines and greenery shifting the viewer's eye to the partially sunlit and placid pond and grounds to the right. It has terrific balance and eye appeal and is a perfect entry for the contest. Good luck!

Thank you Carole for your insightful comments and generous review. Deserted as it was, the massive grounds did indeed have a very spiritual ambiance. It''s so nice to hear from you, I think of you so very often. Bren

I too, you, and wonder if you have another dog in your life yet.

Oh yes. I actually had them when I posted Jesse. One is a very small Golden that I got as a puppy for my 2nd Golden because he was so sad. He was 7 years old and had been born without hip sockets. It took 2 years to build them one at a time and so he became shy and dependent on Jesse and would sit on top of him when he was anxious. When we lost Jesse, he wouldn't play with other dogs anymore. Unfortunately, the day after I got the puppy, tests on my 7 year old came back that he had T_Cell Lymphona, which is terminal. Still, I put him into chemo and he lasted another 9 months.
The puppy as puppies will followed him around and did everything he could to imitate him and when we lost Indi, my middle boy, the puppy was bereft. We waited 2 years and rescued a 6 month old shepherd/wolf mix who had been abused. I think we should have waited but we fell in love with our 6 month old who was pretty big even then but they do play together although my Golden is very jealous.
I love them both very much but I don't think I will ever have a boy like Jesse again. He was that extraordinary kind of dog who talked to you, laughed a lot, and understood you totally. I think of him every day and I believe I will never stop missing him. Bren
