When petrol was 1d a pint by Mitcham

I think this car is so elegant for its shape and shine. It's a worthy subject.
Nice scene that the museum has placed it in.
I like your work...the mono, that uses a good tonal range, the angle which shows off the car well and creates a strong diagonal line, the balance with rest of the composition, and an effective frame.
I'm broken it down into aspects that work, but also, the whole picture has impact for its look into another time. I like the feeling of this.

Movie Poster by donkeyoatey

I like your ideas, and it's very effective.
Lettering is funny and sweet.
Like the placement of the lettering, and how it frames the dogs.
Nice choice color and thickness of the frame.
Colors are good.
Definition on the dogs is good.
LIke seeing these two together.
My dogs are rescues too. But three dogs (down from 4) is a lot to handle. At the time, I thought it was a good idea. Now, years and many vet bills later, I wonder at my foolishness. I do love them all though... immensely.

The Eyes that can Hypnotize... by Sange

The site will not let me give you a 6, which it deserves.
Wonderful capture of this gorilla, with both eyes in view and reflecting the light.
The next thing is the excellent definition, showing the textures of his coat, the lines in his face and the details of his features.
Between his fur and the wall, there's lots of texture, contributing to the vibrance of the picture.
Like the black and white, with most of the tones in the middle range and accents of white from his sticks and deeper black from his eyes, and shadows of ears and nose.
I like that we have just head and upper torso, all the better to concentrate on his expression.
Nice amount of light, with good amount of brightness on his face.
Glad to hear about the cage-free zoo.
Engaging photo and very well done Sandra.

My Hopper in Shining armor... by Sange

Super good color..oranges and green are great together.
Excellent focus, and your depth of field increases how the grasshopper stands out even more.
well composed with the diagnoal lines of the board walk, the amount of space around the grasshopper, and his placement in the frame.
Light is great.
really good!

Space Traveler by Tony B

Funny notes. Enjoyed.
Funny picture. Enjoyed.
Creative and effective.
very good definition on car.
Like the tones, the rust and ruin, the artzy, fartzy patterned frame, which the more solid areas of the car stand out against.
Good work Tony.
About the offer for the time share..let me think about it.

Heavy Metal Grandma by MKFlood

Pretty cute, and she's having a great time. Go granny! I guess rock music isn't just for the young. Look at the Stones..great as ever. Of course, they're not 90 years old.
great color blue, and nice red contrast on the guitar.
Good with the white spot-light and black backround.
Like the composition..nice opposing lines on guitar and spotlight, and then the vertical line of granny to stabilize. Good fill of the frame too.
Like definition on the guitar, texures in the spotlight, and all of grannys wrinkles.
I think it's great when FAR members give each other ideas, and they play them out.

Beginning to Open by Geokat

This is pretty.
Interesting that you got a vignette-like effect without any added filters. I personally would like less of it though. It takes up a little to much room, and draws our attention away from the subject.
Nice colors.
Exposure is good.
Focus is good, but I would like a very slight bit of sharpening, so the in-focus flower stands out even more. Not necessary, just something I would do.
nice diagonal line from the stem.

China Sunset by terry1938

Very nice image.
The almost-silhouette of the temple against the sun is dramatic. No question of the subject here.
I think you did well with the exposure, which gives good contrasts, reflected light on the water, and a range of tones.
The landscape is well balanced with hills rising in the middleground to the left, and in the backround to the right. Like the lines. The temple and its reflection give a nice vertical line.
Nice depth.
The colors are subtle and pretty.
well caught. nice work.

Christmas Sparkle by Michele J

Hi Michele.
This is interesting, and makes a good design.
I like the angle, where the drop shows the underside, the perfectly spaced pearls that dot the edges, the texture seen on the stem, and the bokeh in the backround.
Vertical frame is a good idea here, and I like the amount of space around the subject.
Excellent definition.
Exposure is very nice, giving a soft light that invites us in rather than blaring out at us.
very well done, and good to see your work.
I have cut way back on the amount of time I spend at FAR these days. I'm mostly doing the contests, and dropping in to review.
Hope you are well.

Soccer , Cigarette Card Repro by david F

I like how you have evoked a different era and it's interesting to hear about the trading cards. Must have been fun for the artists then.
He's an interesting combination with the serious look and big ears, and slicked down hair.
Like the colors you've used, which bring me in.
Nice shading work. L
Like the catch-light in his eye,the combination grey and black of his hair, the way the hairs are textured, the two tone color of his shirt, the frame within the frame.
Good work!
