Paul is a professional architectural engineer by day and "serious amateur photographer" on weekends, who would like to reverse this situation some day! Favorite photographic subjects are landscapes and seascapes, as well as everyday objects photographed from a different perspective to turn them into objects of art. He has had several photographs published in national photography reviews and has won many local/regional photography awards, including "best of show" at the saxonburg arts festival. I HATE giving bad reviews ;( If a photograph looks like a "snapshot" or is just not up to par, I tend to just skip over it. If a picture or photographer looks promising, sometimes I'll give it a "3" and add comments that will (hopefully) help them get better. If something really "pops out" at me, I'll generally give it a "4" or better after a little scrutiny...the only ones that get a "5" are those that I think would do well in a professional juried contest. Those generally need to be better than a very good photo, they need to be intriguing, tell a story, or very creative. Good luck to all! :) |
