ELAINE VICTORIA GREY :
This site seems to have created an extremely self-ingratiating method of promotion. Outside of the review process,I would rather see a legitimate Fee on Sales, than to have to pay to advance one's creation to another level. Although, a great concept for gambling and gaming, it seems to bastardize the professional aspect of the promotion of art. Sorry, but that's my take on it.

Adam Regan : Couldn't agree more - it's not about how good an image is but how long one pays to keep it in view of the community. Unfortunately artists are generally poor, so unable to compete with hobbyists.

Adam Regan : - perhaps they should have professionals/semi professionals/amateurs segmentation.

sandralee : I find the payment process off putting and frustrating as well but I do like the site.

jal300 : gals, youre mostly right, but if you work this site for what you want you can create enough good photographers to know when you post that they will review and give some good feedback, its that which makes this site , not so much the "award" or recognition, sure thats great, but that alone wont make you better, So create a group of good reviews that are your friend who know when you post. I almost left within the first 2 months for the same reason you stated, give it some time and see, if you dont learn and get the good feedback yu want then I agree

jacqueru : Well said, I believe an artist work should place on merit by peer review perhaps by votes or some other rating system, the more positve the peer review the higher your position on the display pages. Devise some sort of system where the artist has the option of paying ($$) FAR for priviledge of placing in the first 2 pages, for example. The higher the placing, the steeper the 'placing fee'. Just food for thought, just believe my work's artistic merit and value should be determined by my fellow artist and not my financial contribution to a piece.
Thanks for speaking on the subject it has been a point of contention for me and realize now it is a sensitive topic.

PhotosByAlex : The artists that seem to be at the top are also the top reviewers. Since you are paid for each review, it is in their self-interest to post reviews and ultimately get enough funds to self-promote their work higher up on the list. If you don't feel comfortable giving reviews about your peers' work, then you will be forced to pay cash to promote your work so that it is seen and not languishing down on page 5 or 6. In addition, unless you promote your work and give a higher payment for each review, there is no incentive for reviewers to critique your work if all they will get is 1 member cent and 1 or 2 points. There needs to be more honest reviewing than having incentives be behind it all.

virginian : A bit cheesy for the $ thing BUT I have to say that since I'm just getting started on my serious fun, the reviews have helped me look at my work, others' work and how I look at the things I want to take photos of. 'Will give it a while longer.
