I am a professional interior designer, member of the American Society of Interior Designers and International Interior Design Assn. My, award winning work has been published nationally and internationally in many prestigious magazines and books. It was an honor to be named a "Master of the Southwest" by Phoenix Home and Garden magazine. Photography has always been enjoyable for me and I have happily participated in photo shoots of my work. Grammysandy : I was just feeling discouraged regarding the amount of money I have spent on promoting my photos. I thought I could finance all of FAR expenses by reviewing but the money gets spent so quixkly with $9.00 certificates & $3.00 cent pumps. Is the secret to get fans so they can know when you post new work & comment on it without buying certificates?

dodgement : Never spent a cent apart from the joining fee. Promoted all my images by reviewing. I have noticed that if your not giving 1$ on your post, You do not get many reviews, Just to give reviews on high payout images is not the best option, Earning pumps on the 27cent is the quickest way of getting your image higher once you have promoted. Next Saturday we are off on an 11 day cruise out of Venice, Italy on the Celebrity Cruise line's newest ship the Silhouette. Ports of call include: Dubrovnik, Croatia, Rome, Naples, Catania, Sicily,Valetta, Malta, Split, Croatia, Ravenna and Venice ,Italy. Then three more weeks in Italy where we will visit Turin, Cinqua Terra, Florence, Perugia and family visits to Isernia, Aqua Viva with side trips to Rocatte and Rocanazo. I am excited and hope to get some good photos to share with you.

Sometimes. wires and other objects define the authenticity of a scene. Why clone out what is there? The object , for me , is not to change the scene but to present it as I saw it. Three AM ramblings.........
Keri Harrish : I think something's are a personal choice, the object of a review is to offer suggestions and not to offend the photographer (or should be anyways).

marieann green : This week I have had messages from two of my favorite FAR members saying they are leaving the site. One being Yourbren and the other Chickadee. Some discontent here. Earlier this month we lost SnapppyViv........Do tire of reviewers praising work and rating a four. Usually newcomers.

ckbesq : Do you know why they are leaving? That is very sad- two of my favorites as well. Both will be sorely missed. I have similar thoughts since my profile page is so distorted. I don't know why this was changed (upgraded they say!) but I cannot stand to look at it now! Tom says people like it this way- who, I wonder?

F11Shen : I am new to this site and people are encouraged to review peoples work, there are incentives to do this and it may be that people are not actually reviewing but looking and putting a few comments. Maybe there should be boxes for composition, technical ability, focus etc. Not everyone here has had tuition and understands "the rules" of art, but does not mean to say they cannot produce art. This disadvantages both the reviewer and the reviewed, but consideration should be taken into account. If people need ego food alone they will soon get bored.

EvaB : I believe F11Shen makes some valid points. With limited technical knowledge, my scores are based on my own asthetic tastes (quite often)and I hope are not taken as hurtful, but my own honest view of how I find the shot according to my personal tastes.

SusieM1 : Unfortunately, any form of "judging" involves personal opinion - so even though I agree with F11Shen's suggestions of adding boxes to validate a reviewer's decision, it is still going to come down somewhat to personal opinion. For instance, when it comes to cropping a shot - there may be valid reasons that an artist/photographer has made the decision to present it without heavily cropping it (perhaps it can be suggested that an artist states those reasons in their notes?... if they think to do so having presented it as they think is ideal for that particular picture) - down to leaving part of something in to add more depth or tell part of a story to go with the shot (photography in this instance). I am very new to this site too and would love any constructive critisism, especially on the technical side of things as I am very challenged in this department. So I would love to encourage reviewers to tell me not just what they feel may be wrong with a shot, but actually HOW to fix it, every detail included (with much appreciation!)

Taking off in the AM for Los Angeles for a few day visit with my daughter then drive down to San Diego. Will board Holland America for a seven day cruse of the Mexican Rivera. Cabo, Puerto Vallarta and I forget where else. Of course, will have the cameras along so stand by for lots of shots of Mexico.
