Martha became a member of the FanArtReview community in April 2011. She has always had an interest in photography but it was mostly centered around family events and photos when traveling. The real passion for photography began when her husband bought her a Canon T1i for Mother's Day in 2010. She took a basic photography course, bought several books and started taking lots and lots of pictures. She will admit that in the beginning most of them ended up in the trash, but lately has started to find more and more "keepers". Her family and friends have been very kind to praise her pictures but she wanted to find a forum of like-minded individuals willing to offer more concise, honest criticism of her work. She felt that only then would she know for certain whether her photos had merit. She has been humbled, amazed and grateful for the acceptance of her work by others in this community of artist but believes she is nowhere close to being in a league of such amazing quality art as shown by truly artistic people on this site. She is grateful to her husband for supporting her newfound passion and is always willing to stop as soon as it is safe and possible when she sees a photo opportunity. Occasionally they are able to take trips on their Goldwing trike and her camera has become a permanent part of her riding attire. Leaning more toward landscape and sunset photos, Martha recently had the honor of photographing a young man for his Senior pictures. Never having considered portrait photos before she found it a fun, rewarding experience and has another Senior photo shoot coming up soon involving two sisters. She is currently beginning a series of photos involving old, abandoned barns she and her husband find while triking around the countryside. She spends the months of January and February on South Padre Island, TX and enjoys having new territory and subjects to photograph while there. She looks forward to meeting more and more members of this select community and hopes they will forgive her for being so slow to find her way around and become a part of this group. She enjoys looking at all the works of art and hopes that those she reviews are taken in the spirit for which they are intended. Her main goal is to learn and grow and meet new friends with the same interests.

Wanted to apologize in advance for having to take some time off from reviewing. I am having some minor surgery tomorrow and my husband is having knee surgery on Thursday. I'm hoping to get back on track within a few days since I'm tougher than my husband but he's a big baby so will no doubt be an indentured servant taking care of him:) Don't tell him I told you all that; it will just be our little secret....

Would you believe that today is our 41st anniversary and my husband came down with a stomach flu during the night. Can't even keep a glass of juice down:( I feel so bad for him. Now I'm sitting here reviewing photos and realized I am just two reviews shy of earning an "All Time Best" on my Bird of Paradise photo. Bummer! I'm hoping everyone else is having a better day than the one in this household. Back to reviewing, which by the way, continues to amaze me how inspiring all the beautiful works of art are here to feast one's eyes on. They seem to just keep getting better and better when I thought they were pretty darn good to begin with when I first joined this sight. Have a great day everyone.

Wow, I don't know what is going on that I keep keeping further behind with my reviews. Way too many irons in the fire and not managing my time very well I guess. Am hoping to get caught up in the next day or two. Please be patient with me--maybe having some last few days of great weather has contributed to my getting off track. I find myself wandering outside with my camera when I should be focusing on other things that need doing:)

I have been trying to get caught up with my reviews and find myself woefully falling further behind. It's about to get worse--will be away from internet service for the next 3-4 days (who doesn't have internet anymore?). I will do my best at getting reviews done as soon as possible.

But when you think you know it all you become ripe and therefore with nothing left to to reach for you begin to rot. Sorry. Not a fruit. Batty as heck sometimes. But that,s about it:)
