Please understand that most of the photos I put up here are trials- unless they are book contributions or contest entries, Im here to learn how to improve them, within MY restrictions. I dont use a Canon or a Nikon or photoshop, because I cant afford them, so Im learning within my spectrum. I use GIMP or picasa with my Panasonic cameras. I dont have access to a studio, so I shoot outdoors.

SirPurr :

SirPurr : Nope. Shunned again...

I hope ya'll like the photos of the Lake Martin hawk family. I just found them this past Friday. I gave them nick-names: Alice Cooper, Loreena McKennitt, Stormin Norman, and Kaine. I hope to see them fly soon!
April 30 at 3:34AM
Flight_of_Raven : Alice Cooper is related to Loreena McKennitt huh? What an odd world!
April 30 at 10:00AM
SirPurr : Ha! Alice got named for his eyes. Loreena was the songbird I heard, while photographing some ducks, that led me to the hawk nest. Kaine was the shy, humble little monk, and Norman just stepped up and paraded himself.

Doris1022 : Did you see the alligator I drew from yours?

SirPurr :
Having a great day! You know the one where you get up early, take care of your chores, then go out to the lake and take some snaps and you get some really good ones, get back home and the computer blue screens you? That's my day...

SirPurr :
Planning my first photo book! Welcome to Lake Martin Bird Sanctuary and Sportsmens Paradise. You've already seen some of them and most of the rest are on viewbug, from which I learned there's a site as well as home software to do books, so... Here we go...

Man, weathers been changing for the better, work schedule an inconvenience, and I got some cool ideas I want to try out... Running out of patience...

SirPurr :
I usually work overnight, but this morning after I got off, I had an awesome foggy lake sunrise. I enjoyed every minute and got plenty of good shots, more than they will let me put up here, but you can check out my Facebook folder, if you like. They're in the My Breaux Bridge folder.

SirPurr :
Sorry for my absence, the past few days. After Regans graduation shoot, I got volunteered to play in the boys' parent - player baseball game, needless to say, out of shape seniors suffer muscle pains after use and take longer to recuperate from them... parents won, tho, with some slight of hand officiating.

SirPurr :
Graduation invitation season... I got volunteered to do the nieces' pictures, because $950 was too much- from a friend of a friend, in the business. Hmmm. I foresee some good eatins from the family folk ;-D In case ya'll didnt notice, I dont have many people poses on this site, because I got burned out on people while doing my 8 month contract job on the cruise ship. 12-1500 shots a day, of people in a hurry, drunk or whatever and learning it on the job. Not that I cant do it, and I know where the money is, but... argh!!!

SirPurr :
Ok, so it's a little aggravating that a BOOK goes up for review and comments only come back on the front page and nobody reads the storyline...
February 21 at 1:02PM
Echo7 : have you contacted the Union?
February 21 at 7:37PM
SirPurr : Yeah, one said *yawn*, the second said ruff-ruff, and the last one passed gas and just stared at me, nonchalantly...

SirPurr :
Went out to Lake Martin, hiked to the north side and scared a turkey vulture family- or did they scare me? Jumped in the car and went to the south end, went up the west side for about an hour, before I saw another person- so in the outback of Breaux Bridge, the people I see, are on vacation from Nice, France. Amazing day- I had not been on the west side at all.
February 21 at 8:57AM
SirPurr :
Today, I went out to Lake Martin to get that Spanish Moss shot for MK, needless to say, I got sidetracked and got egrets and my first gator sighting of the year.
February 14 at 5:10PM
Intrepid : So when you left, did you say "see you later, alligator."
February 14 at 6:11PM
SirPurr : No, more like, "Peace, Out, m'brutha"

I'm in the process of putting some books together, of Breaux Bridge and separating them by different themes. I've never done it on this site, so trepidatiously, I'm putting up some photos to see which ones might be well enough received and then included in the books. Advice, gladly received! Oh, see the previous status note about my birthday wish! Alohas!

Lucien van Oosten : SirPurr, the only advice I can offer, be sure they are your very best, most superb images and that they are presented following the guidelines for submitting a book, for the Diamond Seal. I would not base my selection for any images to be in a book based solely on the ratings I get on critiques given by the general population here. Those,â?? I like itâ?? comments are not true critiques and the ratings most are giving are not accurate either. So be sure you think the images in the book you are submitting are your very best, most extraordinary, outstanding & exceptional images. I do know from having books rejected & accepted in the past, the committee that reviewed them gave very good feedback on the work presented.
February 13 at 2:09PM
SirPurr : Thanks, Lucien! besides, not all the submitted pictures get more than 2 reviews, even if they're better than the others. Good, valuable reviews are hard to come by on any site- here, most do it for the member money and fill it up with lovely and beautiful. Other sites, I've seen it used to attract post-ers to their own page.
