INFORMATION
I have been a member here since 2005. I practically lived here for 2 years. Becoming #1 reviewer and #1 top photographer, no longer am i interested in doing that. In that time i learned so much.I learned that being top dog on those charts takes a lot of time away from life in general! LOL! Life changes and now i post occasionally. I have learned a lot from this place.
I had been involved in Search and Rescue with my Newfoundland dogs for six years, that is why the sar before newfie in my handle, no i aint canadian! LOL My interest in art started way back in school but i never tapped into it after graduation, instead i tapped into my love of animals and pursued a career in grooming, training and boarding. After conquering that and still self employed grooming part time, i found myself enjoying taking photos of my newfs and working with Stain Glass Art, i totally enjoy stain glass, and really got into heavier photographing in the 2000 when i invested in the Rebel SLR and had that through till 2011.It lived a good long life, fell twice and finally started to die on me.In 2011 i bought a Cannon T2i. I have been shooting with an SLR since 2000. Started in Auto mode, and finally advanced to Manual mode shot in Raw format.

I have had newfs since 1986 and didnt start my breeding program, with "occasional" litters until 2000 studying and researching lines and movment, i really enjoy photographing them, they have quite the unique personality, and are a CHALLENGE! With black and white i am learning the secrets to mastering getting the faces in the right light, but now have to work a bit more on contrast on the white! Recently i have taken an interest in watercolor. I am in the intermediate level learning under Jim Dolan. He is a very talented artist and has done illustrations for childrens books and is very well recognized for his wonderful watercolor prints. I am having fun with this.

sarnewfie: I am sick of it snowing every 2 to 3 days. Winter can go away now. Anytime. Please. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
February 23 at 10:00PM
Flight_of_Raven: I need winter to stick around until April.. I haven't fulfilled my resolution yet!

sarnewfie: Gearing up to start a new watercolor painting of one of the pups i bred. It will be a gift to them. He is 9 years old.
My assignment ended at my temp job. I fear temp jobs will be a life for many americans. :( The labratory assistant job i held for a while, they ended up downsizing and i was a casualty. Not good for the stage of life i am at.
I can only hope that one of the many interviews i went on the first week since assignment ended will produce a job for me. *sigh* otherwise i will be living on 160 dollars a week and that is w/o taxes taken out. :( :(

shallemeier: I can relate to your money situation somewhat. I worked for a small company very hard for 27 years, I became very sick with TMD and it was still going to be a year before I had surgery, he let me go. the system would not let me receive unemployment because I "could not look for a job technically" I finally needed up on disability about a year and a half later, however that is much smaller than my income was! As many probably already know. I also only had insurance on the hospital, not the doctor and his staff. Insurance companies like to throw this under dental instead of medical. Best of luck on your new painting and your job search! -Sherry

sarnewfie: Sherry i am so sorry for what you have gone through. Life is such a challenge. You sound like you are doing ok now? I hope to get a job in the next two weeks or i have to start a new claim for unemployment. The year is up of which i only used 6 weeks total from last year when the downsize happened. I do not like to be without a job and feel guilty each and every day i had to collect unemployment. But i worked so hard through my life self employed and never ever ever needed help till this last year and this year. :( It is such a horrible feeling. I am grateful for my health because i cannot imagine doctor bills on top of everything else i barely can afford. And i can really feel for your situation. Hopefully i find something. I started a store at Zazzle selling my artwork and photos. I will see what comes of that.

sarnewfie: I am hired! Yeah. I start on monday! :)
    August 7 at 9:43PM

sarnewfie: Ahhhhh First day without Airconditioner running in at least a 7 day stretch of high heat and humidity! :) Cut the grass, windows open, fans are running and i may even be able to go sit in the yard with the newfies for a while! :)
July 7 at 1:50PM

sarnewfie: Heat index of 105 when it was 1:00 p.m. I have no idea how much higher it went or the temp which at that time was at 97 degrees. UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
July 5 at 8:14PM

sarnewfie: To hot outside. Remember. Do not walk your dogs in this heat. I see people walking their golden retrievers on the hot cement and see the poor dogs lagging with tongues hanging down and i wonder how badly burned their paws are. People can be so stupid with their pets. Dogs sweat out of their feet. To add to that, the hot cement which is to hot for OUR bare feet and therefore in turn is to hot for a dogs. They can get heat stroke so easily in this horrible heat we are having. Please use your brains and be kind to your pets. Keep them indoors with fans running for them or AC.
July 3 at 5:45PM
Stacey Nagy: I second that! I even worry about my outdoor horses...hubby won't let me bring them in...lol. On the super hot days if they are really sweaty and lethargic , I rinse them off. Also, they need plenty of fresh water and free range salt licks.
    July 3 at 6:01PM
donkeyoatey: I walk my fellow before the sun rises in this heat. Some people should not be allowed to have pets..no sense at all!
    July 3 at 9:34PM
sarnewfie: I cannot imagine how hard this is for the farm animals! :( It is so much work i am sure to keep them comfortable. Good for you guys for being so aware and animal smart.
    July 3 at 9:48PM
filly421: I sometimes make comments to strangers when I see something that is thoughtless or cruel with their
animal. Of course no one wants a stranger voicing their opinion, so they tell me to mind my own business. My hope is that after they get over their offense, they'll think about what I've said.
    July 4 at 8:39AM

sarnewfie: What is better then the farmers market? Working that on Saturday and Overtime on sunday. No life for me! :) I did not even get to the marsh yet! ARrrrgggggg
June 8 at 10:16PM

sarnewfie: I finally finished the watercolor painting of Tonka! I redid the long grasses into a much softer shade of green. No longer is it distracting but a softer look and puts tonka in the foreground. :)
March 11 at 12:59PM
Badger: Tonka, Tough, Tough Toys for Tough, Tough Boys, I still have my dump truck!
    March 11 at 2:42PM

sarnewfie: i do not want to brag or anything but.... well..... the canon 100-400? it is in my house. :) :) The Tamron i have? it is a turtle as far as focus compared to the canon. I knew this all along as i do own a 70-200 zebra lens from canon. Of course for the last 4 days i have owned the lens it has been raining or snowing like a Beeeatch...... But well, there will be time to get used to the pump lens. It really is a heavy lens at 3 lbs but i will conquer!
March 2 at 10:25PM
ducilla: NICE!!! Big lens and a very big telephoto! Put you right in the middle of the action... Have fun...
    March 3 at 1:41AM
sarnewfie: Thanx Ducilla. I do have to hold the tripod collar to support the lens! LOL! To many years of dog grooming has not helped the tendons in my lower arms. But maybe i will build those up eventually! :) :) Tax return and sale are nice for this time of year. I will never be able to afford anything above this lens. LOL! :)
    March 3 at 10:41PM
sarnewfie: Oh and this is my FIRST I.S. Lens! NICE! :)
    March 3 at 10:42PM

sarnewfie: I am currently working on a watercolor painting of Tonka, from my first litter of newfoundland puppies born in 2000. He is now 11 years old. So far it is looking pretty nice. :)
February 14 at 4:40PM
donkeyoatey: newfies are so sweet and bearish..I look forward to seeing it.
    February 14 at 8:01PM

sarnewfie: I am very disapointed in this site. I tried 3 photos to upload here. On facebook they are sharp clear images. this last week here? NOT SO. Details are lost when uploaded. What is up with that?
February 5 at 2:14PM
sarnewfie: Needless to say i deleted all three that i wanted to post due to the loss of details.
    February 5 at 2:15PM
sarnewfie: I am getting there. I have a friend helping me but still i cannot see the hairs on the butterfly body that the printed photo is showing me. GRRRRRRR
    February 9 at 8:08PM

sarnewfie: Anyone selling their Canon 100-400 f4.5 5.6 L IS Lens??? :)
January 26 at 7:56PM
ducilla: I want one!!! lol.. Pretty big but thats what tripods are for!.. Wonderful lens..dennis
    January 27 at 1:56PM
sarnewfie: You and me both Dennis. :) Some day. Maybe soon. *sigh* Was looking at reviews for Bigma and for the Tamron but it apears with my experience with the tamron, and with other reviews, once again, Canon lenses are the way to go. But, used for only 200$ less then new? they are nuttz!
    January 28 at 12:21AM
