I have a strong desire to be an artist...my tool of choice is the camera aided with programs to help me with expressions I have on the inside :)
My name is Valerie I started on this journey filled with a passion for a way to allow my art to come to life.
I am a wife, mother and a grandmother :) I am my own friend and worst critic. What I do here is not to offend anyone but allow me to express myself as I see my vision. It's funny when I think about it ...but I am very self-conscious person. Having said that...When I feel inspired to capture a moment...I put all things aside and allow the feeling to flow. The moments I capture...are moments of passion and romance, it is not about me but a moment....that is where I choose to play.(10 seconds to get it right...what a challenge)
Would my peers and family approve?
Probably not...but again I may be surprised :)
This is a personal journey for me.
So it is with camera in hand and a timer that I take this venture.
I have no formal training and really go for the overall feeling of the photo when I am done.
I go by Passionate1... I embark on my journey with a Sony NEX-3 and a tripod in hand.
Will I make a living at this? Time will tell :)
It's a wonderful thought....what a wonderful surprise should it happen :)
And now the third person view of me begins....
She loves the story telling ability that comes with the photos. She is inspired by many things on a moment by moment basis. Empowered now with the ability to capture those moments that we often miss or ponder.
She is a daydreamer and a romantic at heart, from her first game of "He loves me...He loves me not." or the subtle covering of the eyes "Guess Who?"
She is always finding ways to play. For her the passion gives a new meaning to the Dr.Suess....."Would you? Could You?" For her life has many shades..."I think we should learn to expand and learn more...maybe give back in return...and watch someone else give a new twist to the light of day or the light of the full moon"**giggles**
"really take what you have and share...my motto." :)
She enjoys the chance to share her point of view with others, through the lens of the camera. She is looking forward to learning and creating some magic
She is now on her quest to search out the various perspectives and classes to fully arm her on her Journey...to be the best storyteller she can be :)
I have already learned alot in my short time here and I intend to expand...there are so many artist on here...when there is such creative energy in abundance...there is no option but multiply the beauty that is around :)
Passionate1 :
Ah..back and reviewing...
Music playing and a glass of wine...now to stroll through the minds of dreamers.
Care to take a Journey? :)

Raw and Jpeg formats...I've started to shoot in both methods.
These images are eating up so much space on my card.
Are there moments that are better shot in one versus the other?
I'm looking for opinions. I can see some differences between the formats visually on the screen.
Thanks :) Have a great day:)
August 15 at 12:09PM
Echo7 : Yes without a doubt.
The main difference between RAW & Jpeg is processing. A Jpeg is processed within the camera. It auto sharpens, saturates & contrasts. Where as RAW leaves it completly untouched. So you open that file with Photoshop Camera RAW & process that image yourself.
A RAW image also holds more data than Jpeg. Its larger & if your really wanting to get the best out of an image. RAW is seriousley the only option.
I would never shoot in any other format than RAW. But i'm Scottish...we like it RAW>
August 15 at 6:39PM
Kelli Lauck : the ONLY time I shoot in jpeg is if I am shooting event photography and it is sheerly for the space on the cards because I can shoot up to 5,000 images within 2 days....other than that, my studio work is all shot in RAW.
August 15 at 8:32PM
Passionate1 : Thanks a lot :) I do appreciate it so very much.
August 16 at 12:06AM
P W RYAN : I always shoot RAW. My cards arent' cheap but I have three now so I don't worry about running out of space :) They take up a lot of room on the computer as well, so I have an external HD, both for security in case my HD crashes and to free up space as well.
August 16 at 8:36AM
Passionate1 : Great info... I will start in raw :)
August 16 at 10:40AM
michaelsm55 : I am new here myself(8/16/12) I too have alot to learn. Form what I have read though you want to use RAW if you plan on using computer imaging software on the photo. If your not planning of reediting your photo then theres really no use for using RAW
So it basicly to me boils down to what your going to do with photo to whether you will use RAW or not.
August 16 at 5:54PM
ducilla : Echo is right on the mark with his appraisal of the RAW image format. It is decidedly better than Jpeg in most circumstances. Yes,like michaelsm55 says it does require a software program to "finish" your image but that "post" work is part of producing a good product. RAW allows the artist to actually show the viewer what the artist really intended or actually "viewed".. Jpeg is also a computer generated image but it is just not as complete as the RAW format..dennis

What causes an inspiration in you? Is it a song, a moment, a memory?
Today I have chosen for myself, The beatles "While my guitar gently weeps"..... And so now I go and see how I can share in my expression of this feeling song.
What's your vision? :)
August 8 at 10:13AM
Badger : Of course the irony is that it never was his guitar gently weeping - not until he played on the Geoff Healey Band version anyway!
What has always inspired me and gives me a warm glow is the sucker that says "I didn't come in to buy a car today" as you hand the keys over.
August 8 at 4:36PM
Passionate1 : Nice...I've seen that happen** giggles** :D
August 8 at 4:47PM
Passionate1 : **giggles** also a good one....;) Although...I come up with the funniest photos.... :)
August 8 at 6:27PM
phil1950 : What inspires me are the people I visit as a community care worker. Some of them have serious health issues but never complain or whinge they jusy get on with their life.
August 8 at 7:49PM
Passionate1 : yes.. seems like moments make you take a new look at what your story is all about. Very important :)
August 8 at 8:24PM
donkeyoatey : What inspires me are regula, average people trying to live life as best they can..everyone has a story, and experiences that make them who they are, I like connecting with them..also like FOG!! LOL!
August 9 at 10:54PM
Passionate1 : Yep :). Those are great moments no doubt. Thanks for sharing :).
August 10 at 12:12AM
cynnocence : I am usually motivated by a cause or an injustice. I love to paint to music though, to Loreena Mckennit or Enya, archetypal music to me.

Note to self...don't use iPhone to check in on FAR.. the screen is too small and the delete button is too easy to hit...**sigh**
Looking around ...noticed a few memorable chaps have dropped off the radar.. :(.
I will miss them, I wish them the very best wherever they go. Leaving us few with shades of contemplation or memories of beautiful dreams that come to life.
Moment of silence for friends lost along the way.
May we meet up somewhere and share a smile :). Have a good day wherever you are...

ducilla : The loss of artists is always a sad thing to see on the site. It seems the very heart of "art" is a constant changing landscape and we all seem to be "wanderers"....dennis
August 3 at 12:07PM
Passionate1 : Thanks for the comment... Let us wanders stick together a little while longer... the road is long and I do enjoy company.... :) Have a great day!!

Hello to all that are stopping by.. Taking a quick survey....
I have come across an individual that is critical of my work. Her words were quite loaded with poison and directed at me. Not only does she share her thoughts openly ...she has not contacted me personally on her issues.
If there are others that feel that my photos are inappropriate and are signs of my own shortcomings. Please give me a chance to understand where you think these feelings are coming from.
I joined this site in an effort of sharing my point of view not to be ostracized.
Should you come across any information about me... Please keep in mind that it's not the whole story. I have a side too.
Have a wonderful day where ever you are :D
As always ~Passionate1~

netdweller : There are always a couple of those kind - probably just joined FAR - I don't mind if they give their opinion about me or my work - but they have mo right to attack someone - hang in there - 99.9% of the FAR folks support your work and your right to post it. Dave
July 8 at 9:13AM
Passionate1 : Thank you Dave :D I appreciate it!! Have a wonderful day.
July 8 at 10:42AM
Stacey Nagy : I read some of that person's reviews, and they are down right insulting! I would report that person to Tom!
July 8 at 10:46AM
ducilla : Passionate One...
Art is a creation of our own world and the experiences we have had or dream about,in that world. It is never going to be liked (or loved) by everyone and if you can please yourself with your work you are rich beyond money.. Do not fret if there are those among us that can not have the audacity to enjoy this journey...dennis
July 8 at 10:48AM
phil1950 : I think I know who you mean. There is only one word to describe them and that is MORON. Don't let those people get under your skin that's what they want.
July 9 at 1:21AM
Passionate1 : Thank you for your support. It's great to know that you understand where I'm coming from. Happy to know other fellow travelers of self expression. Thank you for making my day brighter. :D
July 9 at 8:59AM
cynnocence : I agree my friend and I too have suffered one of these inappropriate reviews. Regarless of the reviewer's opinion, there is no need to villify them or insult them. I feel the situation is getting worse though and more people are engaging in this behaviour. Am I wrong? Cyn
