My Dad was a photographer and I grew up with a dark room in my house. The last standard film camera I had was a Canon AE1. I took 4 years of photo classes in high school and then did a lot of darkroom work in college. When I got married and started having kids photos were taken but not on the scale I was used to! Seven years ago, at the age of 44, I survived a massive heart attack, then 1 year (to the day) later a triple by-pass. Then 1 year after that I was told I had stage 4 breast cancer! After several rounds of chemo, a bi-lateral mastectomy, and 33 rounds of radiation I am now 4 years cancer free!I started taking photos again 2 1/2 years ago when my one and only grandchild was born. I had several point and shoot cameras. This last Feb. my husband bought me my Canon EOS Rebel T3i for our 30th anniversary and I have never looked back!! I am loving and living my life!

All these photos I have posted of Lake Michigan are pretty, but it can be dangerous too! Today we lost a 15 year old boy to the rip currants that come along with the large waves! Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers!

Molinera : Hi, I saw elsewhere that you were starting an 'as taken' contest, but I can't find it.. does it still exist? That's got to be quite a challenge on a site like this! Talk about throwing down the gauntlet! Does it include any photo with no modifications? I've got some pictures that I have taken with a digital camera but it doesn't make any enhancements if you just set it to jpeg. I hardly ever take them in RAW format as hardly any software seems to open Nikon RAW photos, even for viewing.
