Irishphotoman:
For those who can read this, reviews are just expressions I give. Please don't take to heart if the score isn't perfect or what you want. I'm not here to offend or even dream to offend anyone. Everyone tries their best but like me, I put my work out for those to judge. I'm not gonna get angry because some reviews don't rub my ego. I'll take it as constructive criticism.

| yukongold: I wouldn't change a thing! There are way too many people who want their egos stroked (should only be showing their images to friends and family). Too many attack the reviewer - that is clearly and unequivocally contrary to the rules and it is your opinion. Many others interpret the guidelines as mandatory to provide reasons for less than excellent; I don't although I do try when I review. Many don't seem to realize that "initial impact" is a significant component of a review and rating. If it doesn't appeal to the reviewer - so be it! If I start reviewing again (don't need to at the moment), I will be doing unbiased and honest reviews, and not auto 5s....

| Mike4884: I have several people get mad at me because I ranked them lower than ehat they think they deserved. I welcome the constructive critisizm and feel thats the only way I can grow.

| Irishphotoman: Thanks, I just mute those who make an issue out of reviews. One person mentioned it effects the selling of pix so I guess when money is involved the greed comes out.

Irishphotoman:
Hello, I have been asked by a few why I have not given full stars on some pix. I may not like the picture enough to give 5 but rank the work that has been put into it.

| Happy Snappy: It's not helpful to downgrade someone just because you don't like their photo even though you admit there is nothing technically wrong with it. It happened to me twice tonight on the one photo and I have now lost the sixes I had on it. If you don't like something then pass it over but if you have any grain of wisdom and technical insight that you can share then that is what I welcome and what I am here for..not to have my hopes and self confidence dashed. I think I can speak for others on this. I asked you to look at the reviewing info but you refused. It's reviewers like you that lose the site it's paying customers and it's reputation as a site that helps people improve their work and get constructive criticism.

Irishphotoman: Is there a way I can filter some artists that only want 5 stars or nothing so I can look at those
who Are not here to fight?

|
| Happy Snappy: You don't need to I have muted as I expect also has the person who had the magnificent waterfall shot that you dropped a star because "you had seen too many of them" The reason for that was because there has recently been a flowing water contest on here. Get to know the site and the rules before you want to start a one man crusade or you won't last very long my friend.

| yukongold: IMO - muting is the ultimate attack on a reviewer, and the main rule here is thou shalt not attack a reviewer. The ranking guidelines presented in the FAQ are just that - guidelines. The image has to have impact to be appreciated and if it doesn't - so be it! If I am to review only those that I like - and I will start again with the reviewing when I have the time - then what is the point? It would be appropriate to review EVERY image posted so that rankings actually reflect the art presented and their appeal to the mass audience. Way too many auto 5s here.

| Happy Snappy: I agree with you yukon. There are far too many 5s on here but that is because FAR is deemed that 5 be an average score. If someone can dish out 4s willy nilly just because they don't like a certain genre of photo whilst themselves getting 5s for their own average work with glaring faults then how is that fair? There has to be consistency or it's not worth having a scoring system. And FAR gave me the power to mute so I will use it if I want or else why have the facility? I haven't had to mute anyone else.

|
| yukongold: To HS - not sure where you see that FAR has deemed a 5 be considered an "average" score. I think the raters have by default - with the auto 5s - created this "average". Excellent is not average, it is above average. There are other reasons to mute, don't think a review is sufficient reason IMO....

| Irishphotoman: Exactly mike, pix can still be reviewed with less stars for the low initial impact of what the picture is about.
