Cassandra has been pursuing photography for the last 6 years. With only recent self training she has relied heavily on natural instinct to capture the right shot. With some help from online tutorials and websites like FAR her work and portfolio are growing quickly.

Has anyone else noticed that THIS weeks contest is for June? I asked for clarification and Tom says yes...it is in June. Is anyone else confused?

Not happy to be back from vacation, but absolutely thrilled with the opportunities I had to see and photograph the incredible wildlife in Florida. I was able to shoot 6 or 7 new (to me) species and saw many that looked different this time of year due to their breeding plumage. So excited to share the shots with you...prepare to be bored with herons (and other birds)! LOL

For all the butterfly lovers out there. Interesting article about the decline in Monarchs and a professor from my alma mater, Dr. Brower, is quoted here.

Life is but a dream. : Just watched a documentary last night on TV regarding divorced couples and how they fight for maintaining custody of their animals. The lawyer said "a dog is somewhere between an object and a human." !

Anyone out there have any tips on dealing with lens fog when in hot/humid climates? Heading to key west in two weeks an I'm always bummed out when I want to shoot and I can't see a damn thing!
October 19 at 6:03AM
phil1950 : Try keeping the lens in a zip lock bag then when outside let it warm up before removing. Condensation happens when warm air hits a cool object or vise versa.
October 19 at 8:09AM
Sange : What Phil said.. when camera is inside in air conditioning... I need my camera to get acclimated to the outside temp.. just like my specs 0^0..
I usually leave camera in trunk of my car till I get to my destination.. so it is close to the temps outside. I have never had an issue yet.. and I live here! ;)
October 19 at 10:31AM
Cassandra01 : I will try it. We will be in a hotel so not sure I'll have a place to keep it safely in outdoor temps. I always try to keep it on the balcony if we have one. Thanks for the help!
October 19 at 12:10PM
donkeyoatey : I have never had an issue in Florida, and I have been on rivers, and in both hot and cold weather..when we go to places like Belize, I pack my lenses and camera with tose little moisture proof packets that come with shoes..I just tuck them in my bag.
October 19 at 7:58PM
Badger : I remember Belize when:
It had no paved roads.
The only brick building was the KFC.
A bottle of rum, four cokes and a cubic foot of ice was two $2 US.
A crate of Belikin was $3 US.
An exotic disease could be yours for $6 US at the Big C.
A ride from Airport Camp to Belize City was $2 US.
The F4 Phantom was a front line fighter.
The only white people were British serviceman and of course flares were still fashionable!
October 19 at 10:31PM
Cephus : When I am outside in the cold and go into warm moist greenhouse, I use some hand warmers to help bring the lenses up to temperature in less than 30 minutes.

Cassandra01 :
