/!!!/ JamieK considers his photography as therapy; the search for beauty being good for the soul. He retired in Aug 07. Hasn't lead to spending a lot more time with his hobby, but maybe come spring While willing to shoot almost anything with his Canon 20D, his primary interest(s) appears to be nature/landscapes/ intermediate macros. He tries to look at the mundane and commonplace from as many views as possible and then to present his subjects in the best possible way. Progression in technical excellence is always a goal. If the klutz was able to really use his equipment....

Living in West Virginia on 8 acres of fields and woods (none level) he can be found on any given evening if the light is good and the air reasonably calm in his own "backyard." Flowers, especially backlighted ones, seem to be his passion.

When not shotting or sitting in his "darkroom" he likes to cut his own mats, mount and frame his "good" shots. He loves to give them away to people who seem to like his work. He's just beginning to believe he is producing some good "stuff" and welcomes any and all comments and criticisms.

His wife and two Maine Coon cats (to be featured here at some point - the cats, that is) support him in his dreams - to a point. He works with a Canon system - 20D and an assortment of lenses. His next acquisition will be a good ballhead for his tripod to replace the six pounds of cast iron of his current panning head (thank you John Shaw!).

He started in photography thirty five years ago or so when his brother loaned him a Retina Reflex S to pass the time while stationed in the Mojave Desert (rebuilt the shutter three times in two years - such dust and sand!). Learned with an outside light meter and manual focus, so the wonderful world of digital SLR's today is like stealing! Quit shooting for twenty five years or so and then picked up an Olympus 700UZ and the rest is history. But he wouldn't change a thing.

He still likes to capture in the camera, not in the computer (saves time and is a matter of pride for an old dinsaur)
