as a mature student at the UEL I had to spend one year at its sister Uni which was Leipzig Uni- I rented my house in the East end out to a St Lucian woman who told me the Pakistani Landlords were charging huge amounts. She was pregnant and I felt sorry for her. One year I told her. Uni friend said she would collect the rent for me. After two weeks they refused to pay the rent anymore. /I knew he worked as well as claimed benefits/ when I got back they refused to let me in. I had to go to court, and got in 9 months later. I was on the streets. People were marvelous, first a lady at my church who had recently remarried let me stay in her old home till it SOLD. Then the sister of a second neighbour, with whom I was friendly took me to her house for a cup of tea, she had always come to mine before. Her parents heard of my dilema and said: no nonsense, you stay here. They had 7 children in a two bedr. house, I slept in the girls' room. coming from children's homes, no great deal for me. When I got back into my house, the St Lucian's had destroyed everything and left a huge pile of chicken bones outside the back window, which had brought rats.. even the double glazing!!
