This photo was taken at sunrise on the coastline of Quintana Roo, Mexico, the famous Rivera Maya the Caribbean site of the Yucatan Peninsula.
The landmass showing up right is really an ancient riff what is mostly under water but shows up when the tide is very low. That it looks so big is do to the low angle [me on my tummy at waterline]. The buildings are a lot farther away than the reef.
