Mixed Media Photograph of the Month Contest Entry
This mixed media wasn't planned it just happened. I used a photo of a fire burning in the fireplace and an orchid. I thougt the two petals and center of the orchid looked like a bird so I went to work to see what I could create with it. After colorizing the orchid with blue I thought the figures resembled bats. Although they are NOT specifically bat shape they did appear to be a fantasy form.
After I did the above I took a photo of hot burning flames and tried twirling it. I thought it looked like a hot flaming vortex. vortex. THe swirling flames into hell! Thats how this came to be.
I used overlays of transparenies and gaussian blur to add some depth to the vortex and hopefully give you the feeling you were looking down on it. Speckled film grain was used on the outer rim to give the illusion of heat being
eminated from the firey depths.
"I noticed I made a mistake in the "Modification description area". When I tried to fix it and erased a couple of the descriptive words it wouldn't allow me to add any more. It should read....Bats were made from orchids.
Hope you enjoy! :o) Helvi
