When I was young I had a lot of pen friends, and one of them lived in Palermo in Sicily. I was invited to stay with the family for 3 weeks, but Mamma Mia loved me so much that she wanted me to stay longer. The 3 weeks became 5 weeks. I was only 17 years old and this was the first time I traveled so far alone. It was also the first time I was traveling by plane. It was a fantastic time, and I have of course also visited the family later on. One of the memories from this trip is this Marionette picturing an old time soldier. Unfortunately I must have lost the sword, so I had to add one. I got the Marionette from an old lady living near by as a present for my 18th birthday which I celebrated in Palermo. I did not like it very much at the time, but I am very glad I kept my soldier in shiny armour. The idea behind this photo was that only a pair of scissors could cut the strings and set the soldier free. Before I took the photo I hang him on a door. The light was natural in the room and I used a tripod.
