Carabosse or the Wicked Fairy Grandmother is a rare figure in fairy tales, is nevertheless among the best-known figures from such tales because of her appearance in one of the most widely known tales, The Sleeping Beauty, and the ballet derived from it. Anonymous in her first appearance, she was later named in some variants of the tale Carabosse. This name was also attached to her for the ballet.
The most complicated was painting the hairdo and the makeup. Both were reflecting the spotlights and decorations. The makeup had metallic content. The crown was made from some translucent plastic and rhinestones.
As reference I used photos taken by Leslie E. Spatt for her book "Behind the Scenes at the Ballet * Rehearsing and Performing "The Sleeping Beauty" [Puffin Books 1997].
