It took me 4 weeks to complete this painting. I modeled this after the traditional dress worn by the ladies in the hilly region of Coorg in Karnataka (South India) which is well known for coffee growing.. These women wear the saree in quite a different way than the rest of the ladies elsewhere. I found it very interesting and thought it suited the theme of the painting of a lady going to a temple to offer prayers. It is common practice among Hindus to offer, flowers, lamps etc to the temple deities!
I painted this on stretched canvas of size 22"x30"
Somehow I was not able to take a good picture of the painting with my camera. The nuances of the colours and shadings are missing. Such as the light showing through the fingers and the light on the ladies face. And the background colours. However,In person this looks very nice and lively.
Enjoy!
