Several months ago American Civil War reenactors set up a camp in my town. This photo reminded me of the young men on both sides who were assembling for the big battle in Gettysburg Pennsylvania that turned the tide in the favor of the Union Troops. It was a terrible battle with great loss of life and injuries on both sides. It was fought from July 1-3,1863 and there were over 43,000 total casualties. I can only imagine that this young man was some mother's son and may or may not have been spared.
