Male [left] and female Queen Butterflies met at a Tropical Milkweed [Asclepias curassavica].

The Queen Butterfly [Danaus gilippus] is native to the temperate regions of the Americas, Asia and Africa. It is usually found in open environments such as meadows, marshes, deserts, fields and the edges of forests. It has a wingspan of 2.8-3.5 inches [70-88 mm]. It is brown-orange, has black wing borders and white spots on its dorsal wings. The male has a black androconial scent patch on its dorsal hind wings.
