With Mouth Wide Open Contest Entry
This young Tapir has his mouth wide open as he squeaks in search of mama. Tapirs look a bit like pigs with a trunk, but they are actually related to horses and rhinoceroses. They have poor eyesight so they rely heavily on their excellent sense of smell and hearing. They make high pitched squeaking and whistling sounds to communicate.
