Mountain peak in Switzerland

A Mountain Contest Entry
This photo was taken in Switzerland at a mountain called Jungraujoch. It is the top of all Europe. It wasn't cheap getting to the top, but well worth the money. The Jungfraujoch is an alpine attraction and viewing point, at an altitude of 3454 m. It is located in between the well known mountains Mönch and Jungfrau, in the heart of the UNESCO Natural World Heritage property "Jungfrau - Aletsch - Bietschhorn". The cogwheel train is the only way to get there. The train station is the highest one in Europe. I would have to say that it was perhaps the most beautiful spot on this planet.
We took the train from Grindelwald. It took about 2 hours to get to the top with the cogwheel train. Once at the top the view nearly takes your breath away as the cold air streams accross your face and the snow crunches under your feet. I believe that I lucked out on that day because you can spend a lot of money to get to the top, and the clouds can be so low that you only see white and no mountain. The day that I went, the weather was perfect. In fact, I remember taking my jacket off and it felt like it was in the 70's and the sky was this crisp blue and was perfectly clear. If you notice in this photograph there is a bright yellow plane flying around. I was worried that he was going to hit part of the mountain because he kept getting as close as he could and there were thick clouds rolling by. I guess the pilots adrenaline was pumping as he dove in as close as he could.
Upon getting to the top of the mountain, I could not breathe and started to panic and wanted to go down. I guess I was somewhat hypoxic before my body adjusted and I could breathe more easily. We stayed up there for hours and I got lots of great photos. I do remember making snowmen, rolling in the snow and laughing at everything and just plain having a great time. When your oxygen levels are low, it's kind of like being intoxicated. And, I did have the time of my life.

I did crop this photo to give it that panaramic view. There are no adjustments to this photo and I know that the sky looks very blue, but up there....the sky is so crisp and clear and a beautiful blue color.
