While Sunflowers are beautiful, they are rich in meaning. Sunflowers symbolize adoration, loyalty and longevity. They are used in industry for making paints and cosmetics. Some times the seeds are used for coffee. The seeds are edible. American Indians ground the seeds to make flour. The petals can be cooked and eaten like artichokes. Sunflowers can be turned into a cooking oil for it has mild flavor, low saturated fats and can with stand high cooking temps. Sunflower roots can remove radiation from soil and water. They were used to clean up the Chernobyl disaster. The stalks are used to make paper, clothes and dye. Sunflowers turn to follow the sun. Their open faces resembling the sun it self.
