Thompson Pass is a 2805 foot -high gap in the Chugach Mountains northeast of Valdez, it is the snowiest place in Alaska, recording 551.5 inches of snow per year average. We stopped here on our way back from Valdez, this was at midnight! There was still a lot of snow in the Pass , this was a week ago .
