The Greater Roadrunner [Geococcyx californianus] grows to a length of 1.23 inches [58 cm]. The birds nest in low woody plants in open scrub habitats and woodlands. The majority of their diet contents insects, birds, reptiles and rodents, but they will eat plants and seeds also. The natural ranch of the Greater Roadrunner includes the Southern US and Northern Mexico where they are known as Paisano [Countryman].
