Mixed Media: None | Ok, so I have been learning watercolors on either 8 X 8 or 12 X 12 pieces. I decided to really stretch myself and try a larger piece so here is my 18 X 24. I started by masking the outside edges of the flowers, stems and leaves. I the slowly layered my background using some wet on wet and some layers that I dried between colors. I then filled in my stems, leaves, seed pods, and calyx areas on the two just opening buds. I completed my petals and then the centers with their purple anthems and filaments. I tried to pay close attention to shades and shadows to add depth. I hope I accomplished that.
