This guy is at the Minnesota Zoo. I have some shots of a couple in the wild but there are way too many branch distractions :)

Great Horned Owls are known for their prominent feather tufts on their ears. They are sometimes referred to as Tiger Owls because they are powerful and aggressive hunters.

They are also known for getting to the center of a Tootsie pop in... aah one, aah ta-whoo, a tharrreee, three licks! Actually a group of Purdue University students created a licking machine, modeled after a human tongue, and reported that it takes an average of 364 licks to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop. A volunteer group took on the challenge without assisance from the machine and averaged 252 licks :)
