The Great-tailed Grackle [Quiscalus mexicanus] is native to the southern United States and northern Mexico where it is found at open grasslands, stream side woodlands, groves, coastal salt marshes and cities. The species has yellow eyes. The male gets between 12-17 inches [30-40 cm] long with glossy-black plumage. Females are smaller, dark brown with paler breast feathers.
