Imagine yourself openning the front door one night and discovering this is in front of it. This is exactly what happened to me. I had two evergreens on each the side of the porch and along came a spider. I guess he or she thought it would be a teriffic place to build a web. The web scanned the whole width of the porch right in front of the door. There was barely enough room to squeeze out the door. I know because that's exactly what I had to do. I didn't break one strand of that web. A photographer simply can not let an incredible shot like this slip thru their fingers.
I think the web was about 3ft by 4 ft. it was spun by one of those gigantic black and yellow orb spinners. The spider was hidng in the bushes trying to protect itself from the rain. Which made me very happy. You can see the door behind the web. It was partilally open with a screen door in front of it. You can see the screen if you look carefully. It was closed.To me this this was a once in a lifetime shot. The web disappeared in the daytime and was re-spun every night for about three days. It was a field day for me. ANyone who came to the house was warned about the web. I didn't want anyone to walk into it. .......And of course this all happened in the month of October! I promise you it was not there on Halloween nor would I have allowed it to be. The bushes are no longer there. I hope you enjoy the shot
