Photographed 1917 at the Tropical Exhibition of the Botanical Garden, San Antonio, TX

Anthurium is a member of the Arum plant- family. It ranges in color from pure white, pink-red, deep red, orange, red-green and many others. The plant flowers as a heard shaped bract, called spathe, which is thick and leathery. From the spate, which sizes six to nine inches, rises a white, pink or yellow spatix which bears the true flowers which are small and barely visible.
