Lynx grooming after the rain

Lynx-Eyed

This handsome guy is a Lynx at the Minnesota Zoo. He eyed me watching him groom after the rain.

There are four living species of Lynx: Eurasian Lynx, Canada Lynx, Iberian Lynx and the Bobcat. This is a Canada Lynx which is often confused with the Bobcat which is similar in color but slightly smaller. These guys have 1.5 inch tufts of black hair on the tips of their ears which I think is cute :)

They have very large paws that are rounded with fur on the pads that act as snowshoes, allowing them to easily walk on the snow. They are extremely elusive and are rarely seen by humans, which has earned them the nickname "Shadow of the Forest". They make a variety of sounds and vocalizations which are similar to domestic cats. They purr, hiss, growl, meow and shriek.
