This Green Heron was patiently waiting for a meal. Like most herons these guys can stand very still for long periods of time waiting for their prey.
Because green Herons are smaller (16-18 inches in length) with much shorter legs than other herons, they usually forage at the shallow edges of water that is usually no more than four inches deep.
