although we speak the same language, the life-style culture is of necessity very different in the UK and USA. For someone just over from the UK to the flowing State of Arkansas, it is the gentle beauty of it which smacks you in the eye. However, many homes there, in the good weather in Arkansas, would be classed as holiday homes in UK, with our rainy weather, and indeed, over there in the summer, many people seem to live outdoors in their gardens, and just go inside to sleep, so it was very difficult for a while to work out which was classed as a home and which is a shed and which is what is now so popular, according to our tv, termed a barn, especially as now barns are being converted to make homes for people, no longer just for farms. So I decided to look if there were windows with curtains! But post boxes all over the place, not necessarily by a domiciles, made this task even more complicated! So, a home has a much wider definition of build over there than here! I walked many miles each day, getting to know the area and it proved very interesting to get in touch with what is what as well as my health, but astounded many people there and they spent a lot of time stopping and asking me if I wanted a lift, and looked bemused at my answer: no I am just out for my constitutional. It is sad that I can no longer go for a constitutional, because of thieves in this area of Uk where I live. Evidently, Sheffield city has some 60% or more, straight thieves so I stay in my home constantly but am still robbed, each time I go out, same technique as the Stasie, little bits each time, just a few items. The thieving is relentless. In Conway, Arkansas, I did not even lock my doors when going out.No one ever broke in, however there is a strong police in action there. We have no police to speak of anymore here.
