You be native if you want, but I am a British Gentleman. I found a lot of this attitude up in Nanital, easily noticeable by their dress, cravats etc. but at the same time, there was the other attitude: you british imprisoned/killed my grandfather- just like the two paths you see by the lake side. This was one of the places the British military came for a holiday during the Raj. They built two roads round the lakeside, one lower, one higher as you can see.The lower one for Indians, the higher one for the British and they had to stick to that. However, this meant that the Indians were constantly splashed with mud from the British horses as they walked along. The Bank Manager of the Bank of India, one of whose clerks refused to serve me because I am British, explained it well, it is still within living memory! People have not forgotten. It was a bit daft though, as I am a Austro -Hungarian ethnic and they can't tell whites apart!
