this is from a story my mum told me, as I did not see it with my own eyes, I have drawn it in a loose style. She told us how once a year the Orthodox Jews of their city danced through the city with the Torah. I am not sure how far through the city, she is no longer with us, so I cannot ask. My grandfather was a Master tailor, employing several tailors and seamstresses. He worked hand in hand with the rich jewish tailors, who often passed on their overflow of work to him, making the rich, jewish furriers and jewellers their crombies and suits. We lived with many rich Jews in harmony in our neighbourhood until the country changed hands, and mum's best friend was a little jewish boy, so we knew what they did and they knew what we did! When we came to Scunthorpe /agriculture and steelworks/ in the UK, she would wander round the market chatting to all the jewish traders and was much happier up in Lancashire where there was a larger jewish population. She missed the easy mix she grew up with very much.
