Listening to brass bands every Sunday afternoon at Crooksmoor park Sheffield, I am reminded that when I moved here, several hospital buildings have been turned to University buildings. That in the distance used to be St George's Hospital and in front of it, the Park toilets. Once when sitting in the park on a sunny afternoon, I told my sons to go to the loo there. They told me that those toilets were a special meeting place for gay men and that boys were accosted there. I, coming from a very sheltered small Lincolnshire town, told them not to be silly, but they were much quicker on the uptake of city life than I was.
