Siam Tulip botanical name is Curcuma alismatifolia and is native to Northern Thailand and Cambodia. It is in fact not related to a tulip at all but to the various ginger species such as Tumeric. They are prolific, after flowering ends the plant dies off, but if left undisturbed they sprout again the following year and usually with more blooms.
