I took this photo a couple of years back in my friends house who had arranged for a spiritual fire Hindu ritual as a house warming session. The fire ritual is called Homam in South India.
Homam is a ritual performed by authorized Brahmin practioners of Hinduism. It is a process of invoking sacred fire with the intention of cleansing ones self, both spiritual and material and for creating positive energy. A mixture of various herbs and leaves,Clarified butter etc are offered to the fire as prescribed in the holy scriptures at regular intervals..Through this process which may take about 2 hrs accompanied by holy chants, the flame is kept burning.
