By the way, this animal is supposed to look like he is backing into a cactus. You would have to read my book to find out why! I fictionalized a real dragon mule a rancher tried to sell my father in Baja, Mexico, for my book, My Grandfather's Horses, available on Amazon. (I wrote it under the pen name, Victoria, Auberon.) I knew the rancher well, and both parents of the phenomenal mule (really a hinny) that was almost six feet high at the shoulder. What made it so unusual, other than being a phenomenal size, was that it was born from a molly mule and sired by a horse, making it three quarters horse and one quarter burro (donkey.) For a long time horseman did not believe hinnys or mules are ever fertile, but finally word has got around that they sometimes are. What I have never read or heard of is anything as huge as "Machismo" resulting from the cross.... https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/pdf/10.1177/014107688507801006
